1. Giant Anacondas
Python caught in Southeast Asia
If you ever find yourself in the middle of a rainforest, one thing you might come across is a snake almost as long as a school bus. The longest snake in the world is the reticulated python (Python reticulatus) found in Southeast Asia and the East Indies. They can grow up to 30 ft. long and weight up to 350 lbs. But the largest snake, with respect to its length-to-weight ratio, is the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) found in South America. They average about 17 ft. in length, weighing between 66 and 154 lbs., though there have been unverified reports of sightings of anacondas measuring 37 1/2 ft. in length.
