Ritual Purity
Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) gives us complete guidance for all people on how to spend lives. It not only includes the way of prayer but also includes how to fast and stay clean. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) spends his whole life in cleanliness that’s why there is a big collection of Hadith.
Islam laws consist of minor and major impurities.
Minor Impurities
In Islam, minor impurities involve:
- Defecating and Sleeping
- Urinating
People who have faith on Islam are bound to perform the ritual of washing their body before Islamic act to get rid of above-mentioned minor impurities.
Before praying, the Wudu is done by the method of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in a particular way. Wudu must be performed five times a day because each prayer required washing in specific order.
How to perform Wudu for prayer
- Wash your Hands
- Then Mouth
- Nose, Face, Hair
- Ears, Arms, and then at the end ankle with feet.
Wudu should be performing by water. But in case if a person has limited or no access to water, then he is bound to do wudu with dust, sand, or any other nearby and accessible natural materials in a symbolic way.
According to the Hadith, Earth (Sand, water, dust, etc.) is one of the purifying agents, which you can use for wuzu but water is most preferable. Other natural things are alternative means.
Major Impurity in Islam
Islam has also described major impurities and these include:
- Impurity after sexual activity
- Impurity of Menstrual cycle
In Islam, women are not permitted to perform any ritual tasks like fast, prayer, and hajj in the days of menstrual cycle.
To get rid of these impurities, women, and men both should have to take a specific shower named “Ghusal” In ghussal, the person is strictly bound to wash the whole body from the top of the head to toe.
Public Health Guidance
All over the world, the Muslim leaders and scholars are bound to align their public health guidance in order to Corona Virus, specifically in mosques, temples, etc.
Muslims have to wash their hand with antibacterial soap during wudu for 20 seconds. Because in this situation, wudu only is not enough to prevent from Coronavirus.
